Prescriptions

Many horses require ongoing medication for chronic conditions such as Cushings disease or Arthritis.

Check out the rules relating to veterinary medicines and equine passports here.

Making an order

  • All requests must be made by phone.
  • All drugs must be approved by one of the Veterinary Surgeons before our Reception Staff are authorised to issue them to you.
  • Once we have confirmed the order it will be processed but some delays may occur if we have to order the drugs from our suppliers.
  • Please note that new clients cannot receive prescriptions until the horse has been examined.
  • We can dispense medications with a valid original (not photocopied) prescription from another vet. Please note that in this circumstance the horse will not be under our care, but that of the prescribing vet.

Payment and collection/postage

  • All drugs have to be paid for either at the time of collection or before being posted.
  • Drugs can be collected from our office during normal working hours or sent by recorded delivery for an additional £5.00,  which covers postage & packing.
  • Issue of a written prescription will incur an additional £12.00 charge.
